5 Fall Fashion Trends I Think Real People Will Actually Wear in 2025

Let's face it most, if not all of us, are not attending any fashion week this year. I wanted to focus this article on things that women can apply practically to their everyday wardrobe. This is by no means a message to go out an urge you to buy anything new. As always I actually recommend that you try to use what you have in your current closet. The idea for this article came when I recently read a Vogue article predicting the top fall fashion trends for 2025, and I have to be honest, I was completely underwhelmed.

The article took a macro, almost philosophical view of fashion that felt totally disconnected from how real women actually dress. I was curious to see if anyone else got it right, so also I checked Elle. Slightly better… but still filled with that same vague, high-fashion fluff that feels like it was written for an editor’s roundtable, not your average closet.

It made me wonder, does anyone really know what the trends are anymore? Or are we all just throwing darts at mood boards and hoping something sticks?

Here’s the thing: I don’t claim to be omniscient, but I do have what I call a weird spidey-sense for knowing what’s about to be everywhere. I’m rarely way off, but I am human and could be wrong! Most importantly though, I don’t hype things I wouldn’t actually wear. These aren’t trends for the runway, they’re for real people, living real lives, who still want to look like they “get it.”

So here it is, my list of five fall fashion trends I genuinely believe we’ll see (and wear) this season.

1. Double Denim

Think less “Canadian tuxedo,” more cool-girl uniform. Denim vests over mini skirts, wide-leg jeans paired with open button-downs and a simple tee, and of course, classic jackets worn with everything. It’s effortless and familiar but with a fresh silhouette.

2. Hobo Handbags

Soft, slouchy, and super practical. I’m seeing them in suede, distressed leathers, and earth tones, think mushroom, camel, olive, and chocolate brown. It’s giving 2003 in the best way possible.

3. Track Pants Reimagined

Athleisure isn’t going anywhere, but it’s evolving. Think polished track pants styled with oversized wool coats, structured blazers, or even a silk blouse. It’s comfy, chic, and endlessly versatile.

4. Bubble Skirts & Bubble Hem Dresses

Yes, they’re back. This trend feels playful but wearable. It's easy to take a dress from summer to fall/winter with this still and a great piece to layer with tights and a sweater. Look for bubble hems on everyday dresses, minis in textured fabrics, or dramatic evening versions paired with boots and a chunky knit.

5. Barn Jackets

Rustic meets modern. Whether it’s a classic corduroy barn coat, a cropped version in a surprising color, or even denim with quilted lining, this is the fall jacket you didn’t know you needed.

Listen, I’m not Anna Wintour and I don’t have a crystal ball, but I do know what feels right. I know what people actually reach for, and what has staying power beyond one season. Even if I miss the mark, it’s still fun to guess, and more importantly, to dress for yourself.

At the end of the day, the best trend is wearing what makes you feel good. Confidence is the only thing that never goes out of style.
