What’s on My Coffee Table (and In My Heart) This Fall

Every season has its own energy, but fall? Fall feels like coming home. It’s the season that makes me want to slow down, light a candle, and actually sit still long enough to notice how good life can smell.
Right now, my coffee table has become its own little mood board, part cozy, part chic, and entirely me.
Let’s start with the scent: Nest Moroccan Amber. If you’ve never smelled it, it’s the olfactory equivalent of wrapping yourself in a cashmere blanket while a fire crackles nearby. It’s rich, a little spicy, and somehow elegant without trying too hard. It’s the perfect scent to usher in shorter days and slower evenings.
Lately, when I do find a few quiet minutes, I’ve been reading The Summer I Turned Pretty series. I know, I’m late to the party. I hadn’t heard of it until recently. I decided to give it a try, and it instantly transported me back to the high school days when I devoured Gossip Girl book series (yes, before it was a show!). There’s something so comforting about revisiting that kind of youthful, dramatic escapism, it pairs perfectly with a cup of tea and a flickering candle.
Speaking of comfort, let’s talk snacks. My grandma used to make this fall treat that only appeared once the leaves started turning, a bowl of peanuts and candy corn. It sounds strange until you try it. My updated version adds M&Ms, which makes it a little more balanced… or at least that’s what I tell myself.
The combination of salty, sweet, and that nostalgic waxy candy corn texture hits all the right notes. It’s confectioner’s bliss, pure and simple.
Aesthetically, my fall palette has always leaned toward the classics: deep burgundy, chocolate brown, and forest green. There’s something timeless about these shades, they remind me of worn leather boots, cozy sweaters, and the kind of effortless sophistication that doesn’t need to announce itself. I’m also not one to shy away from mixing black and brown in my fall wardrobe, I think it’s chic.
Fall has always been my favorite season. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, Friday night football games, cross country meets, pizza nights, leaves changing, and that first crisp morning air that smells like change. Maybe it’s the sense of possibility that comes with it , a gentle nudge to reset, refocus, and enjoy the small things that make home feel special.
So, what’s on my coffee table this fall? A candle, a good book, a snack that tastes like childhood, and a color palette that feels like a hug. It’s cozy, comforting, and a little reminder that inspiration doesn’t always come from doing more, sometimes it comes from sitting still and taking in the season you’re in.
